Special update on COVID-19 situation from the Alberta Wheat and Barley Commissions
With the COVID-19 pandemic spreading fast world-wide, the Alberta Wheat and Barley Commissions would like to extend our thoughts to all of those who have been impacted by this virus.
At this time, we want to reassure farmers that we have put a business continuity plan in place so we can continue to serve your needs without putting the health and safety of our citizens or employees at risk.
Our staff have been given the option to work from home. Additionally, staff who have recently travelled abroad are following the 14-day self-isolation period as recommended by health authorities across all levels of government. As you know, the situation with COVID-19 is rapidly changing and we will continue to monitor it closely. We will adjust these measures as needed to ensure we are doing our part to flatten the curve.
Farmers should be aware that these revised operational measures will not affect our ability to work for you. We will continue to operate our business as usual. This includes our core programming, as well as service offerings including the Alberta Wheat Commission’s FarmCash program, grain pricing info through pdqinfo.ca, GrainsWest magazine, the Grain Exchange newsletter and the Growing Point agronomy e-newsetter.
One important update is that we have made the difficult decision to postpone Alberta Barley and the Canadian Malting Barley Technical Centre’s (CMBTC’s) collaborative Malt Academy event in Red Deer until further notice. We apologize for the inconvenience and will be reimbursing those who have registered as soon as possible. A separate email with details on reimbursement will be sent to those who have registered.
