Program
Each year the Alberta Barley Commission accepts
applications for funding for research of interest to Alberta barley producers. Through the
research program, the Commission fosters development of new and improved technologies by
initiating and co-ordinating research on barley industry projects in the areas of
production, processing, marketing and product development.

Research Priorities
This year, the Alberta Barley Commission has introduced
some guidance on particular areas of interest to the Commission (see Guidance for New Project Proposals). This list is meant to
complement the important areas that are already being addressed by the Commission (e.g.,
NIR, barley breeding, etc...). These subjects are intended only as a guide for researchers
submitting new proposals, whether through the Funding Consortium or directly to the
Commission. Researchers are invited to submit proposals on other topics, as well, and can
rest assured that full consideration will be given to each submission.
The research priorities determined by the Barley
Development Council are taken into consideration when evaluating research proposals.
