Barley Herb Loaf

Ingredients

  • 1 cup barley flour
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp parsley flakes
  • 1 tsp dried dill weed
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano leaves
  • 1/2 tsp dried basil leaves
  • 1/2 tsp ground thyme
  • 1/2 tsp ground marjoram
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup malted barley*
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds
*can be substituted with honey

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the first 11 ingredients. 
  2. In a medium bowl, melt butter in microwave. 
  3. Add malted barley and microwave for another 10 minutes and mix together. 
  4. Add eggs and beat well, then stir in yoghourt. 
  5. Add the liquid mixture to the dry ingredients and stir just until moistened. 
  6. Place into a lightly greased loaf pan. 
  7. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top. 
  8. Bake at 350F (180C) for 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. 
  9. Turn out onto a cooling rack.
