Marketing

The Alberta Barley Commission actively works with its membership, government and industry to maintain existing, and identify and develop, new marketing opportunities. Examples of these activities are the Commission’s feed barley projects, malt barley projects, food and nutritional projects and bioproducts projects.

The Commission carries out this work within the framework of the Canadian Wheat Board Act, which gives the Canadian Wheat Board (CWB) the sole marketing authority for wheat and barley produced by western Canada’s 85,000 grain farmers for export and domestic human consumption. Feed barley for use in Canada is not marketed by the CWB.

For information on how you can export barley, visit the CWB’s farmer contracts webpage. For information on importing barley seed, feed, malt, or food barley visit the Canadian Food Inspection Agency’s website.

For information on grain prices and signals, visit our pricing/signals webpage for a listing.
