Spiced Oatmeal Cookies
Ingredients

1 cup butter or margarine, softened

1 1/4 cups brown sugar

3/4 cup white sugar

2 eggs
-
2 tsp vanilla

2 cups barley flour
-
1 1/2 tsp baking soda

3/4 tsp salt
-
3 cups rolled oats (or barley flakes)

1 tsp nutmeg
-
1/2 tsp cinnamon
Glaze:
-
4 cups icing sugar
-
1 tsp vanilla
-
1/2 tsp almond flavoring
-
4 Tbsp light cream finely chopped pecans fine coconut
Directions

Combine all ingredients and mix well.

Drop by spoonfuls onto a baking sheet.

Bake at 425F (220C) until lightly browned, about 10 minutes.

Remove from oven and cool on pan for 10 minutes then remove to cooling rack.

To make glaze, mix together icing sugar, flavorings and cream.
-
When cookies are cool, glaze then sprinkle with pecans and coconut.
Makes about 5 dozen.
