Chocolate Chip Cookies


Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 1/4 cups white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 2 1/2 cups Hamilton's barley flour
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar. 
  2. Beat in eggs, baking soda, salt and vanilla. 
  3. Stir in barley flour, then chocolate chips and nuts, if desired. 
  4. Drop by spoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet. 
  5. Bake at 375F (190C) for 10 minutes, or until lightly browned. 
  6. Remove cookies from cookie sheet after they have cooled for a few minutes.
Makes about 4 dozen cookies. This recipe can be doubled with excellent results.
