Barley Scones

Ingredients

  • 2 cups whole barley flour
  • 2 Tbsp granulated sugar
  • 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 egg 
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 Tbsp butter

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, mix together dry ingredients. 
  2. Add wet ingredients. 
  3. Turn onto a floured surface and knead lightly. 
  4. Pat or roll into a 10 x 8" rectangle or two circles. 
  5. Place on greased baking sheets. 
  6. Score into shapes half way through loaf. 
  7. Bake at 400F (200C) for 15 minutes or until centre springs back when lightly touched. 
  8. Let cool for 10 minutes before removing from the pan.
